Blackberry (Rubus) Apache®

Description: Apache is an excellent variety for the home garden. Produces large, glossy black fruits that can weigh up to 10g! Delicious sweet flavour, making a very tasty jam, jellies and other dishes. Thornless and upright in habit. Quick to establish and easy to grow! Best picked as soon as they are ripe and can be eaten straight from the bush.

Blackberry Growing Tips: Happier planted in a sunny, sheltered site but they can tolerate light shade. Prefer moisture-retentive but well-drained soil. Blackberries are vigorous and need regular pruning. Tie in the shoots of newly-planted canes. Once they reach their first winter, cut back all sideshoots on the main cains. If you would like to eat the fruits yourself, don't forget to cover the plant to stop the birds getting them!
