Ben More® Blackcurrant

Blackcurrant

Description: Ben More is an upright bush that produces beautiful rich and juicy blackcurrants. A late flowering variety so best for missing the frosts! A larger bush than other varieties which gives you more fruits. Neat and compact in habit, very suitable for growing in the north as it has very strong branches that support the crop well.

History: Developed in Scotland by the Scottish Crop Research Institute.

Blackcurrant Growing Tips: Best planted in a sunny position that's sheltered from cold winds and late frosts. Prefer moisture-retentive soils that are well-drained but will tolerate a wide range of soils. When planting in the autumn or spring, cut back all of the shoots after planting. Although it will lose it's first year fruits, it will benefit the bush long term.
