Description: A large, spreading deciduous shrub with trifoliate leaves which are bright yellow when young, later greenish-yellow. Small yellowish-green flowers with a honeysuckle-like fragrance adorn the branches in early summer, followed by clusters of winged fruits. In the past, this bitter fruit was used as a substitute for hops in brewing beer.
