A tree that has been grown in the field and then lifted out of the ground when dormant. Available from November to March. The roots are more open and the direct contact with the soil encourages them to settle in and establish more readily.
These are 2yr old trees that have been grown 1yr in the field and the second in a pot. Container trees can be planted at any time of the year but establish best when planted during the autumn and need to be watered well during the first summer.
Plum
One of the finest, quality desserts. Large, round-oval, red fruit. Strong tree, shy cropping in early years. Partially self-fertile.
Very large purple fruit, firm texture and sweet. Good for culinary and dessert use. Self-fertile.
Vibrant purple-red skin which turns a golden/red when cooked. Heavy cropping. A good jam maker.
Old Laxtons variety with blue black bloom and yellow flesh. Good quality for dessert and cooking, self-fertile.
Medium, dark purple plum with a sweet yellow flesh. Good for eating, cooking and bottling. Reliable cropper and self-fertile.
An excellent dessert plum. Blue skinned fruits and yellow flesh with a fine, rich and juicy flavour.
A very good quality dessert plum. Large red fruits, similar to Victoria, juicy and sweet. Strong growing tree.
A blue plum of the most delicious flavours, with very high sugar content. Selected from a French breeding programme.
Very large red oval, free stone fruit. Not best dessert eating quality but tough and reliable for exposed areas.
A native hardy plum for northern districts. Greenish-yellow but sweet with an excellent flavour.
The same as Victoria but fruit matures about 11 days later. Large reddish-purple plums, juicy and sweet flavour.
Large and heavy cropping eating plum. Self-fertile. Extended shelf life when fridge stored.
