A tree that has been grown in the field and then lifted out of the ground when dormant. Available from November to March. The roots are more open and the direct contact with the soil encourages them to settle in and establish more readily.
These are 2yr old trees that have been grown 1yr in the field and the second in a pot. Container trees can be planted at any time of the year but establish best when planted during the autumn and need to be watered well during the first summer.
Common Alder
Conical shaped tree with dark fissured bark, dark green, serrated edged leaves. Catkins appear February-April
Common Silver Birch
White peeling bark with age, slightly pendulous branches. Diamond-shaped green leaves turn yellow in autumn.
Downy Birch
Less weeping habit, smooth-downy shoots, bark white to base. Bright yellow autumn colour and brown catkins.
Common Hornbeam
Grey fluted trunk, ovate, serrate, ribbed leaves turns yellow in autumn. Green catkins followed by winged nuts.
Thorn
Fast-growing, thorny deciduous tree. White flowers followed by spherical, fleshy, edible, red fruit.
A beautiful small tree with shallow lobed leaves and fruit like red cherries. Height after 10 years 4m.
Upright and dense. Large impressive flowers. Dark glossy leaves and large orange fruits. Height after 10 years 4m.
Midland Thorn
Double, pink-scarlet flowers and dark green foliage. Small red haws in autumn.
Small, compact, spreading tree with glossy, lobed, dark green foliage. Small pure white flowers in May.
Double pink flowers which are very showy in May. Highly ornamental and robust Thorn. Height after 10yr 4m x 3m.
Glossy, dark green foliage. Profuse, small, fuchsia pink in May. Small red fruit.

Noble versatile tree, good for hedging. Dark green leaves copper in autumn. Height after 10 years over 6m.
