Acer davidii 'George Forrest'

Description: Acer davidii 'George Forrest' is one of the best snake bark maples ever grown from seed. With it's green and white snakeskin-like striated bark it makes an excellent, all year round interest tree. Leaves are shiny dark green with rhubarb red stalks and turn fiery orange in the autumn. A tree of loose habit with vigorous, spreading branches.

History: Introduced by George Forrest from Yunnan, China in 1921-22. Received an Award of Garden Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society in 1975.

Acer Growing Tips: Very easy to grow in a wide range of well-drained soils. They thrive in sun but with partial shade to protect the leaves from scorch. A sheltered area away from strong winds is preferred.

Height and Spread (after 10 years) : 6m x 4m
