Brant Vines

Vines

Description: Brant is a very popular, outdoor fruiting vine that's grown mainly for it's spectacular autumn leaf colour; deep red and purple with green veins. Still a respectable red wine grape that produces small, edible black fruits that are sweet and delicious in flavour. This variety also releases a lovely, aromatic scent into the garden throughout the Autumn. Vigorous growth habit and easy to grow.

History: Originates from Canada. Recieved an Award of Garden Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society.

Outdoor Vine Growing Conditions: Vines need reasonably deep, free-draining soil and plenty of sunlight to ripen properly and will happily grow on any good garden soil and sunny site in southern Britain. They can be trained against walls, on trellis or over arches. Remove all flowers for the first two years after planting. Allow only a few bunches of grapes to grow for the first two years.
