Liquidambar styraciflua ‘Corky’ Liquidambar

Liquidambar

Description: 'Corky' is an upright, narrowly pyramidal, deciduous medium-sized tree. Deeply lobed, glossy green leaves turn crimson red in autumn. Very pronounced wing-like, corky projections on the stems and bark are a feature of established trees. Plant in full sun for best autumn colour. The wood exudes a sweet-smelling resin when pierced, giving the tree its common name.

Liquidamber Growing Tips: Liquidambar should be planted in full sun to achieve their best colour, in neutral to acid soil that is moist but well-drained. Once the trees mature, they tolerate occasional drought as well as periodic flooding. Protect from frost when young.
