Tilia platyphyllos Tilia

Tilia

Description: A large vigorous tree of rounded habit, with large pale to mid-green heart-shaped leaves with a course texture. Creamy-yellow flowers appear in June/July and are very attractive to bees. As the tree ages, the dark grey bark becomes deeply fissured and marked which gives the tree a wonderful character.

History: Native to the Wye Valley and South Yorkshire.

Tilia Growing Tips: Grows readily on light or heavy soils and will put up with temporarily soaking ground. Avoid growing in very dry conditions or exposure to very strong winds.
