A tree that has been grown in the field and then lifted out of the ground when dormant. Available from November to March. The roots are more open and the direct contact with the soil encourages them to settle in and establish more readily.
These are 2yr old trees that have been grown 1yr in the field and the second in a pot. Container trees can be planted at any time of the year but establish best when planted during the autumn and need to be watered well during the first summer.
Apple
A medium to large, sharp cooking apple with an oblong shape and a flat base.
Fruit is the same as Cox's Orange Pippin but self fertile. Heavy crops of juicy and crisp fruits, sweet flavours.
Striped, red, juicy eating apple. Aniseed flavour develops after picking retaining its melting juicy flesh.
An upright tree has a long season of maturing, some of the apples ripen early on and others late.
A reliable mid-season variety. Pale, greenish-yellow. Crisp, tangy, easy to grow eater, and a very good pollinator.
Red flush stripes over pale green. Excellent flavour and reliable cropper - deservedly popular as an eater and cooker.
Heavy crops of pale green-yellow flush. Cooks to a cream puree, hardly needing sugar. Good for jelly and butter.
A clean smooth finish, seems to glow when ripe with the occasional pink blush. It is a crisp, refreshing eater.
Deep scarlet skin, red stained flesh. Fruit strawberry flavour. Makes pink juice. Disease resistant.
Red sport of 'Falstaff'. Crisp, juicy flavour. Frost resistant, self fertile. Heavy crops, keeps well.
Deep red, superb flavour, heavy crops. Compact growth. Disease resistant and some frost resistant.
Compact tree producing large fruit, good for baking. Cooks to a light sweet, pale lemon puree. The best early cooker.
