Apple tasting to discover best new varieties 28/11/2018 Here at FPM we have just had two days of apple tasting. Bringing together plant breeders and potential retail buyers, to discover the best new varieties for the future. Several carefully selected apples from trial orchards were given a very thorough analysis. Assessing taste, texture, appearance and also storage quality. Working with Scion Fruits, a joint venture between Frank P Matthews and Richard Hochfeld, we aim to produce the best UK grown apples for grocery sales. It’s a long term venture as trials and production can take years. The results will be revealed when the new apples are named and launched!
