It’s National Tree Week!

24/11/2023

National Tree Week is the UK’s largest annual celebration of trees. Organised by The Tree Council, this year is extra special because it marks the 50th anniversary of the famous ‘Plant a Tree in 73’ campaign, from which National Tree Week was born.

Grow a Tree in 23

‘Grow a Tree in 23’ is this years slogan, with The Tree Council encouraging as many people as possible to get involved with tree related events all across the country.

There are lots of tree planting events and parties that anyone can just turn up to and join in. Including the Petersfield Tree Festival, Tree Planting with The National Forest and a Winter Tree Identification gathering in Tollcross Park, Glasgow. Click here to find out more.

As well as various events, The Tree Council provides some fascinating online talks from tree experts. Click on the links below to sign up for free:

The best time to plant a tree is in the autumn.

Autumn is particularly ideal when the trees are dormant and happy to be moved. Also there’s plenty of time for them to settle into their new home and get their roots down, before the fresh burst of spring growth. We always recommend that customers should plant trees in November or December if possible.

The team here at Frank P Matthews are proud to support National Tree Week. Supplying trees for the Tree Council projects and many other schemes all over the UK.
