Description: Irish Peach is an early, high quality dessert apple. Small yellow fruit with a dull dark crimson flush and faint stripes. Flesh is white, tinged green, firm and crisp with a juicy, fair flavour that's slightly perfumed. Like a peach it should be eaten straight from the tree and has a reputation as a beautiful dish for desserts. Beautiful pinkish-white blossom appears during the Spring.
History: Raised in Ireland, possibly in Sligo. Introduced to England in 1820 when it was send to the London Horticultural Society by John Robertson, nurseryman of Kilkenny. Popular during Victorian and Edwardian times and grown by market gardeners in London and Kent during the 19th century.
