Parentage: Orange Pippin x Golden Pippin

Description: Downtown Pippin is a self-fertile cooking apple. It's skin is a yellow colour, slightly tinged red, dotted with russet. Firm, crisp yellowish white flesh with a sweet flavour. The fruit keeps its flavour and shape when its cooked.

History: Raised by Thomas Andrew Knight at Elton Manor in Ludlow, Shropshire in 1806. Named after Downton Castle, built by Knights brother in Shropshire. This variety found fame in Victorian kitchens!
