Parentage: Wyken Pippin x Cox’s Orange Pippin
Description: Laxton's Superb is a well knnow, late dessert apple that is grown commercially in the Netherlands and the UK, and in private gardens. Purple flush and red stripes give this an old fashioned attractive appearance. Sweet and aromatic possessing certain similarities to Cox, can become biennial bearing. A good substitute for Cox’s Orange Pippin in colder exposed areas.
History: Raised by Laxton Brothers Ltd. at Bedford, England in 1897 and was introduced in 1922. Recieved an Award of Merit from Royal Horticultural Society in 1919.
