A tree that has been grown in the field and then lifted out of the ground when dormant. Available from November to March. The roots are more open and the direct contact with the soil encourages them to settle in and establish more readily.
These are 2yr old trees that have been grown 1yr in the field and the second in a pot. Container trees can be planted at any time of the year but establish best when planted during the autumn and need to be watered well during the first summer.
Nectarine trees are the smooth skinned peach. Often considered to have a superior flavour to its well loved cousin. Fresh, melting and juicy fruits. Ready for picking in August and September. Delicious eaten fresh or used in making desserts, sauces and jams.
Produces a mass of lovely pink flowers from the end of March so it is advised to protect this species from frost. Undercover in a greenhouse works well. We supply nectarine trees in a range of sizes and forms, so you can grow your tree in a pot, against a wall as a fan trained tree or as a bush. We have the right size for even the smallest gardens!
Pruning in the spring will encourage strong new growth which will help fruiting. Prefer a warm, sunny and sheltered position. All varieties are self fertile.
Nectarine
Early and large. Skin has a very dark crimson cheek in full sun. flesh very white, melting and juicy. Freestone.
Pretty, pink flowers. Flattened smooth, yellow-red fruit with juicy, melting, yellow flesh in late summer.
A dwarf nectarine of very good quality. Sweet orange-red flesh and a freestone. Ideal for pot growing.
A clean pale skinned variety with yellow flesh and rich aromatic flavour slightly reminiscent of a pineapple.
Naturally dwarf variety. Stunning deep pink semi-double flowers in spring and delicious, juicy fruits.
Orange fleshed and richly flavoured. The tree produces flowers freely. Self fertile and heavy cropping.
