Description: Captain Kidd is a wonderful eating apple, a better coloured form of Kidd’s Orange Red. A beautful yellow ground colour flushed red with stripes and russet. Creamy white flesh that's crisp and juicy with a sweet, aromatic flavour. Large, dark pink blossom appears during the spring. A good alternative to Cox and much easier to grow. A healthy tree with it's mildew resistance.
History: Developed in New Zealand. The original Kidd's Orange Red was raised by J.H. Kidd at Greytown, Wairarapa, New Zealand in 1924. Introduced to the UK in 1932.
