Howgate Wonder


Parentage: Blenheim Orange x Newton Wonder

Description: Howgate Wonder is one of the largest cooking apples in cultivation today! A large, pale orange-red cooker which keeps its shape when baked. Can also be used as an eater as it is quite sweet and juicy. Often holder of the “biggest apple in the world” prize. A good exhibition and garden variety with an excellent heavy crop.

History: Raised by G. Wratten at Howgate Lane, Bembridge, Isle of Wight, England in 1915-16, later introduced by Stuart Low Co in 1932. Award of Merit from Royal Horticultural Society was recieved in 1929.
