Ouachita® Thornless Blackberry

Description: Ouachita® Thornless is an exciting new erect thornless type of blackberry. An early mid-season variety of fine fresh eating quality. A good crop of medium-sized sweet black fruits that can weigh up to 7kg. Fast growing and very hardy!

History: Developed by the University of Arkansas, USA

Blackberry Growing Tips: Happier planted in a sunny, sheltered site but they can tolerate light shade. Prefer moisture-retentive but well-drained soil. Blackberries are vigorous and need regular pruning. Tie in the shoots of newly-planted canes. Once they reach their first winter, cut back all sideshoots on the main cains. If you would like to eat the fruits yourself, don't forget to cover the plant to stop the birds getting them!
