Reine Claude de Bavay
Description: This variety is the same as the imported gages we see in the shops. A very reliable cropper and if allowed to ripen on the tree is well flavoured. Green coloured fruits that turn yellow with a light bloom, some fruits have red dots. Flesh is golden yellow, juicy with sweet, rich flavours.
History: Raised by Major Esperen in Belgium in 1832 and later introduced in 1843. It was named after de Bavay, Director of the Royal Gardens Vilvoorde.
