Magnolia 'Athene' (White/Pink)

'Mark Jury' x M. x soulangeana ‘Lennei Alba’

Description: Deciduous tree with an upright habit when young and a rounded canopy when mature, flowering from about 3 years of age. The large, fragrant flowers are very thick textured, ivory-white with a pink flush at the base on the outside, almost pure white within. Large green, ovate to obovate leaves.

History: Raised by the Jury family in New Zealand, and introduced to Britain in the 1980’s. Cross between Mark Jury and M. x soulangeana ‘Lennei Alba’

Magnolia Growing Tips: Full sun to part shade lover, best grown in consistently moist, slightly acidic, well-drained soils. Provide sheltered site as buds and flowers may be damaged by cold winds, and late frosts. Shape and size can be controlled by pruning which should be done either immediately after flowering or during late summer.

Height and Spread (after 10 years): 4m x 3m
