The Antartic Beech
Description: An elegant fast growing broadly conical tree. The small, rounded, heart shaped leaves change from a mid-dark green colour in summer to shades of bright yellow and orange in the autumn. The bark is chocolate brown with attractive slices of silver all over.
History: Introduced from Chile in 1830.
Nothofagus Growing Tips: Grow in fertile, lime-free, moist but well-drained soil in full sun.
