Description: Acer rubrum, also known as Red Canadian Maple is a fast growing, ultimately large, round-headed tree. The dark green leaves turn rich red-scarlet in the autumn. Dense clusters of small red flowers appear in the spring adding extra stunning all year round interest. Autumn colours are seasonally variable in the UK but will be more predictable on neutral to acid soils.
Acer Growing Tips: Very easy to grow in a wide range of well-drained soils. They thrive in sun but with partial shade to protect the leaves from scorch. A sheltered area away from strong winds is preferred.
