Amelanchier canadensis Amelanchier

Amelanchier

Description: Amelanchier canadensis is a small, upright tree bearing a profusion of small white, star shaped flowers during spring. The attractive mid-green foliage turns into a beautiful orange, yellow and red colour during the autumn. Blue-black edible berries follow the autumn colours. A very hardy variety that's suitable for planting in smaller spaces which will provide all year round interest.

History: Originated from North America in 1938.

Amelanchier Growing Tips: They will thrive in moist, well-drained, lime-free soil. The best autumn colour is achieved when they're planted in a full sun position but they do tolerate partial shade.
