Gleditsia triacanthos ‘Ruby Lace’ Gleditsia


Description: Small tree with a more or less round, loose, open crown, and grey trunk with shallow fissures. The fine pinnate foliage transforms from a dazzling ruby red colour to a bright bronze/green as summer arrives. Needs to be pruned hard to show off its spectacular foliage.

History: In cultivation since 1961. Gleditsias are named after Gottlieb Gleditsch a German professor of Botany in the 18th Century.

Gleditsia Growing Tips: These handsome trees, mainly grown for their attractive pinnate foliage, are tolerant of drought, shade and urban pollution. They are suitable for all well drained soils.
