Gleditsia triacanthos inermis ‘Spectrum’ Locust Tree

Description: 'Spectrum' Honeylocust also known as 'Speczam', is an open deciduous tree with an upright spreading habit. The bark is a dark greyish brown, with long narrow ridges, and young stems are bright orange-yellow. Brilliant yellow-gold foliage emerges in spring, fading to a softer yellow-green, holds its bright colour well throughout the season, and turns turn an outstanding yellow in the autumn.

History: Gleditsias are named after Gottlieb Gleditsch a German professor of Botany in the 18th Century.

Gleditsia Growing Tips: These handsome trees, mainly grown for their attractive pinnate foliage, are tolerant of drought, shade and urban pollution. They are suitable for all well drained soils.
