Koelreuteria paniculata ‘Coral Sun’ Koelreuteria

Koelreuteria

Description: Coral Sun is a small to medium size tree with a rather irregular round to fan-shaped crown. It produces striking, coral red shoots and leaves in the spring, the almost fern-like foliage turns lush green throughout the summer with the stems often keeping their red colouration. Large, conical panicles of yellow flowers appear in summer attracting many pollinators, followed by bladder-like, green fruit ripening red or coral-pink. In a good, crisp autumn the leaves can turn glorious shades of yellow and orange before falling.

History: Found by Henny Kolster as a natural mutation among many seedlings in his Dutch nursery in Boskoop in 1993. Received the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit.
