Pinus nigra 'Black Prince'
Description: A dwarf selection of Austrian black pine with a flattened-globose structure when young, later broadening and becoming somewhat pyramidal with age. The thin needles are dark-green, followed by whitish buds which can be pruned to keep the plant super compact.
History: Originated as a seedling selected in the mid-1990s by Don W. Hatch through Chantry Nursery, Honiton, Devon, UK.
Pinus Growing Tips: Requires moist but well-drained soil and a sunny position. Copes with all soil types.
