Description: Round-headed compact tree with ovate, finely toothed leaves, attractive white flowers with red anthers and small pear-like fruits. Its most stunning feature is the intense crimson leaf colour in autumn.

History: Introduced from western China in 1825.

Pyrus Growing Tips: Suitable for most soils, tolerant of drought and very hardy, prefers full sun. Ideal for screening and roadside planting.
