Thuja plicata 'Atrovirens'

Western Red Cedar

Description: Narrow, upright growing and densely branched tree with cinnamon-red shredding bark. Has vibrant mid-dark green foliage which is glossier than other conifers, and aromatic when crushed.

History: In cultivation since 1874. Received the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit.

Thuja Growing Tips: Grow in moist but well-drained soil, will tolerate shallow chalk soil. Protect from drying winds especially when young. Suitable for hedging or screening.
