Toona sinensis
Description: A medium sized fast growing tree with handsome, large, pinnate leaves, often bronze when young, and lovely yellow tints in autumn. Brownish-grey bark flakes off when the tree is older. Small fragrant white flowers in drooping panicles in summer.
History: Native to North and western China, and introduced in 1862.
Toona Growing Tips: Grow in fertile, well-drained soil in full sun.Tolerates clay, and can grow in very alkaline soils.
