A tree that has been grown in the field and then lifted out of the ground when dormant. Available from November to March. The roots are more open and the direct contact with the soil encourages them to settle in and establish more readily.
These are 2yr old trees that have been grown 1yr in the field and the second in a pot. Container trees can be planted at any time of the year but establish best when planted during the autumn and need to be watered well during the first summer.
Elderflower trees are grown for the production of it’s exceptionally large flowers and berries. The flowers can be used for Elderflower juices and cordial, and the dark red/black berries can be used for juicing, pies and dye. The fruits are also very high in anthocyanin content.
Elders are hermaphrodite, which means both the male and female reproductive parts are contained within the same flower. Self fertile and quick growers. We supply elderflower trees in containers and bare root.
The flowers are also very good for providing a home for insects. Looks better when the tree is allowed to grow into it’s natural shape.
