Redcurrant

Redcurrant bushes are both productive and attractive, covered in long clusters of red glossy berries in June and July.

Redcurrants have a sweet, slightly tangy flavour and are rich in vitamins and antioxidants. Their high pectin content means they make great redcurrant jelly.

Redcurrant bushes should be planted in a sheltered site, out of strong winds and frost. They do best in full sun, but will tolerate partial shade. Plant in any soil type, as long as it’s well-drained. Make sure you protect the bush from birds if you would like to eat the redcurrants yourself.
