A tree that has been grown in the field and then lifted out of the ground when dormant. Available from November to March. The roots are more open and the direct contact with the soil encourages them to settle in and establish more readily.
These are 2yr old trees that have been grown 1yr in the field and the second in a pot. Container trees can be planted at any time of the year but establish best when planted during the autumn and need to be watered well during the first summer.
Snake Bark Maple
Young growth coral red, green then reddish-orange in autumn. Yellow flowers, striated bark and pink fruits.
Sycamore
Variegated foliage emerges creamy pink, maturing to bright green with yellow and pink speckles.
Silver Maple
(Silver Maple) Delicate cut leaves, downy beneath, producing good gold-yellow autumn colour. Early greenish yellow flowers.
Strong growing, snakebark making a small tree. Branches marked green/white. Leaves butter yellow in autumn.
Trident Maple
Produces a round crown of lush summer foliage, gives good red-orange autumn colour. Reddish brown flaking bark.
Variegated Field Maple
Bold, white leaf margins and pink growing tips. Cheerful and distinctive small tree all through the summer.
Maple
Small tree with a rounded crown. Exceptional, rich-red colours throughout the autumn months.
More upright, columnar version of Field Maple. Young leaves have a pink flush which turn orange in the autumn.
Hornbeam Maple
An amusing Acer whose leaves look like a Hornbeam. The autumn colour is a wonderful, golden-yellow.
A small to medium-sized, densely branched tree with smooth green to reddish green bark marked with faint white stripes.
Long dark green leaves with white and pale pink variegation in summer. Brilliant pink and purple in autumn.
Large shiny dark green leaves and rhubarb-red stalks. Green and white snakeskin-like striated bark.
