A tree that has been grown in the field and then lifted out of the ground when dormant. Available from November to March. The roots are more open and the direct contact with the soil encourages them to settle in and establish more readily.
These are 2yr old trees that have been grown 1yr in the field and the second in a pot. Container trees can be planted at any time of the year but establish best when planted during the autumn and need to be watered well during the first summer.

Slow growing shrub/small tree with highly unusual twisted 'corkscrew' like branches. With golden-yellow catkin.
Hazel
A compact hazel tree with very twisty, contorted branches which don't break easily. Catkins in spring.
Purple Hazel
Red leaved form. Corkscrew twisted shoots, dark purple leaves. Purple catkins turning purple-green.
Leaves retain their dark purple/red colour through summer and into autumn. Edible nuts in autumn.
Turkish Hazel
'The Turkish Hazel'. The corky corrugated bark is an interesting feature. Height after 10yrs 6m/20ft.
Purple leaf Filbert
Large, vigorous shrub with striking long claret red catkins and purple foliage. Edible purple fruits.
Common Hazel
Green, heart shaped foliage turns yellow in autumn. Long yellow male catkins. Small red female flowers followed by edible nuts.
Golden Hazel
A soft yellow leaved form excellent in contrast with the Purple-leaf Filbert. Height after 10yr 4m/13ft.
Asian Hazel
Small, deeply lobed, textured, dark green leaves. Yellow catkins in early spring. Height after 10yr 3m.
Weeping Hazel
Small, dense, dome-shaped tree with graceful, weeping branches. Long catkins and yellow autumn colour.
Turkish RedHazel
Vigorous upright, deep red purple young leaves turning dark green. Red husks with frilly margins.
