A tree that has been grown in the field and then lifted out of the ground when dormant. Available from November to March. The roots are more open and the direct contact with the soil encourages them to settle in and establish more readily.
These are 2yr old trees that have been grown 1yr in the field and the second in a pot. Container trees can be planted at any time of the year but establish best when planted during the autumn and need to be watered well during the first summer.
Yellow Boxelder Maple
Golden leaves throughout the summer and drooping racemes of golden tassle-like flowers appear in June.
Sycamore
New foliage emerges shrimp pink, turning yellow-green with purple undersides. Pendulous yellow flowers.
Bronze-green emerging leaves opening to show pink and green splashes with stripes and starting pink undersides.
Maple
Moonrise or Fullmoon Maple. Dramatic autumn burnt-orange and red foliage. Cream and pink flowers in the spring.
A Dutch selection of dense, conical habit, with lobed mid-green leaves that turn yellow in autumn.
Narrow pyramidal habit. New leaves crimson in spring, fading to mauve/green in summer, turning yellow in autumn.
Snake Bark Maple
White striated bark. Dark green leaves, bright reddish-yellow autumn colours. Broadly columnar, medium sized.
Deciduous, upright, spreading tree with scarlet red samaras contrasting with the rich green foliage before the leaves change.
Finely cut leaves turn a kaleidoscope of orange yellow and red in autumn. Ideal for exposed sites.
Norway Maple
An upright, medium-sized, fast growing tree. Large intense purple foliage turning bright orange-brown in autumn.
Upright Purple Maple
An upright but less vigorous form of Crimson King. Compact in growth with crimson leaves.
