Frank Matthews Trees, one of the UK’s most respected tree nurseries, is proud to announce the celebration of its 125th anniversary in 2026.

Founded in 1901, the family-run business from modest beginnings, has grown into one of the country’s leading producers of fruit and ornamental trees, supplying gardeners, garden centres and landscape professionals with more than half a million trees each year.

To mark this remarkable milestone, Frank Matthews Trees will return to the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in 2026, showcasing the nursery’s unrivalled expertise in tree selection, propagation and innovation. The nursery will also be introducing a number of new fruit and ornamental tree varieties. These new introductions will reflect the nursery’s long-standing commitment to improving garden worthy trees with exceptional flavour, disease resistance, and ornamental appeal.

As part of the celebrations, the nursery will also host a 125th Anniversary Open Day Party during the summer of 2026. This special event will invite members of the horticultural industry, media, trade and the local community to explore the nursery, meet the team behind the trees and enjoy a rare behind the scenes look at tree growing.

Over its 125 year history, Frank Matthews Trees has played a significant role in shaping the nation’s orchards and gardens. Known for championing modern introductions as well as preserving heritage varieties, the nursery continues to lead the way in sustainable tree production and specialist knowledge. Today and with the fourth generation of the family at the helm whilst supported by the third generation they carry forward a legacy rooted in passion, expertise and innovation.

2026 promises to be a landmark year, celebrating not only the nursery’s past, but also its future with new varieties and a continued commitment to helping gardeners grow better trees.
