Parentage: Golden Delicious x Ludo

Description: Crispin is an eating variety that is grown for it's very heavy cropping potential. The fruit is greenish-yellow, sometimes with brown flush. Pale creamy white, crisp, sweet, juicy flesh, similar to Golden Delicious but with a coarser texture. One of the latest keepers improving in flavour after long storage.

History: A post-war variety raised in Japan in 1930 but first fruited in 1939. It was originally named Mustu in 1948, Musto meaning 'elephants ears' due to the extra large leaves! Renamed Crispin in a W.I naming competition when it came to the UK in June 1968.
