Strawberry Tree

Description: Arbutus unedo 'Rubra' also known as, 'The Strawberry Tree' is a small evergreen tree with deep brown shredding bark. A stunning cluster of rosy-pink flushed bell-shaped flowers and fruits appear during the autumn. An all year round interest tree, suitable for any garden!

History: Introduced in 1835. Received an Award of Garden Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society in 1925.

Arbutus Growing Tips: Arbutus thrive in well-drained soil such as loam, clay or sand. Prefers to be planted in a full sun but in a sheltered position. Good for coastal sites and tolerant of lime.
