Description: Grenadier is a most widely grown early commercial cooking apple, being high on the list for it's success in growing well in difficult conditions. It has excellent cooking qualities, making a tangy, pale cream, puree, a perfect baker, cored and stuffed with spices and dried fruit and good in a wide variety of pies. Grendier is easy to grow, large early fruit which cooks to a sharp purée. The tree is compact making it ideal for the garden. A very good pollinator for the Bramley apple.
History: First recorded in 1862 and was later introduced in about 1875. Received Fist Class Certificate from Royal Horticultural Society in 1883.
