Parentage: Sturmer Pippin x Ribston Pippin
Description: King's Acre Pippin is a late dessert apple. A large fruit, green with brownish red flush and russet patches. Creamy white flesh, very rich flavour with a crisp, juicy texture. Slightly unattrative but makes up for it in its characteristics! Stores well into January, delicious when eaten fresh from the tree. An excellent late keeping garden apple.
History: First recorded in 1897. Introduced by King's Acre Nurseries, Hereford, England in 1899. Received an Award of Merit from Royal Horticultural Society in 1897.
