Kioto ® Apricot

Apricot

Description: Kioto is a new apricot variety. Heavy crops of round orange flushed red fruits arrive in early July. Flesh is sweet and juicy! Very high productivity, good thinning and less split resistance. The tree is slightly more compact than a standard apricot and frost resistant. A great garden variety as it's easy to grow!

History: Orginates from France.

Apricot Growing Tips: Only prune in the early summer as part of the fruit thinning operation in heavy cropping years or after picking in light cropping years. If there is no crop, do not prune. Apricots do not suffer from peach curl disease but be aware they do get bacterial canker quite badly during prolonged wet weather. Pot growing is acceptable provided there is even moisture. Good drainage is essential and for the very best success a southerly wall is perfect…they deserve a prime position!
