Noire de Caromb Fig

Fig

Description: As suggested in the name, Noire de Caromb is a black fig of very high quality eating. Produces quite a small fruit, very firm skin and light red flesh. Very attractive lobed green leaves. Suitable for colder climates.

History: Originates from the French Alps.

Fig Growing Tips: Happy when planted in the ground or in pots, prefer a sunny location, indoors or outdoors. Hard pruning is recommended to encourage young replacement shoots on old 'woody' plants. Figs ooze a white sap when pruned in the spring or summer. This is not harmful but can cause irriration to the skin. Pinching out of strong growing tips in mid summer encourages the development and ripening of the current crop.
