Ice Crystal Fig

Fig

Description: Ice Crystal is a very unusual variety that has unique deeply divided leaves which appear in the shape of ice crystals, making this a very ornamental plant. Produces small, sweet, edible fruits. Also a very hardy variety that requires plenty of growing space.

History: Recieved an Award of Garden Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society.

Fig Growing Tips: Happy when planted in the ground or in pots, prefer a sunny location, indoors or outdoors. Hard pruning is recommended to encourage young replacement shoots on old 'woody' plants. Figs ooze a white sap when pruned in the spring or summer. This is not harmful but can cause irriration to the skin. Pinching out of strong growing tips in mid summer encourages the development and ripening of the current crop.
