Magnolia 'Star Wars' (Pink)

Magnolia liliiflora x Magnolia campbellii

Description: Will grow into a large symmetrical tree with a long flowering season. Lovely, large flowers are bright pink on the outside, almost white within, appearing for six weeks from mid-March onwards.

History: Raised in New Zealand by Oswald Blumhardt during the 1970’s and then introduced to Britain in 1985. Received the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit in 2002.

Magnolia Growing Tips: Full sun to part shade lover, best grown in consistently moist, slightly acidic, well-drained soils. Provide sheltered site as buds and flowers may be damaged by cold winds, and late frosts. Shape and size can be controlled by pruning which should be done either immediately after flowering or during late summer.
