Acer palmatum ‘Beni-schichihenge’ Japanese Maple

Description: Acer palmatum ‘Beni-schichihenge' is a striking and rare form of Japanese Maple with outstanding colouration in the variegated leaves. The leaves are blue-green with strong pinkish white lobe margins blushed with a distinct orange. Glowing tones of orange and gold appear in the autumn creating a stunning display of colours for all year round interest. Similar to ‘Kagiri nishiki' and ‘Butterfly'. The name ‘Beni-shichihenge' means 'Red and Changeful'. Perfect for small gardens or planting in a large container.

History: Introduced in 1967.

Acer Growing Tips: Very easy to grow in a wide range of well-drained soils. They thrive in sun but with partial shade to protect the leaves from scorch. A sheltered area away from strong winds is preferred.
