Acer mandshuricum Acer

Acer

Description: Acer mandshuricum is a shrubby tree that's one of the first Acers to bring autumn colour to the garden. The 3-lobed leaves exhibit wonderful rich wine-red foliage colour in late summer and look very similar to clover. The tree itself has curving branches, giving an open vase shape.

History: Originated from NE China, Korean peninsula, Russia (E Siberia) in 1904.

Acer Growing Tips: Very easy to grow in a wide range of well-drained soils. They thrive in sun but with partial shade to protect the leaves from scorch. A sheltered area away from strong winds is preferred.
