Acer pensylvanicum Maple

Snake-bark Maple

Description: A medium-sized deciduous tree of upright growth, with white-striped green young branches. Attractive, pinkish red buds in spring open to large bright green leaves, which turn bright yellow in autumn. The yellow-green flowers appear in pendent racemes after the leaf has unfolded, followed by the winged nutlets.

Acer Growing Tips: Very easy to grow in a wide range of well-drained soils. They thrive in sun but with partial shade to protect the leaves from scorch. A sheltered area away from strong winds is preferred.
