A tree that has been grown in the field and then lifted out of the ground when dormant. Available from November to March. The roots are more open and the direct contact with the soil encourages them to settle in and establish more readily.
These are 2yr old trees that have been grown 1yr in the field and the second in a pot. Container trees can be planted at any time of the year but establish best when planted during the autumn and need to be watered well during the first summer.
Apple
Quality cooker. Large, firm, attractive green fruit with an angular shape. Cook early when green for a sharp taste.
Old favourite, reliable crops. Striped fruit, sweet, aromatic with a hint of strawberry. Very high quality.
Plum
This plum is Victoria like in appearance but appearing much earlier in late July. Sweet and juicy.
One of the latest picking plums for September. Large and good quality purple fruit. Dual purpose. Good cropper.
Quince
Large subtle pink flowers and very large, pear-shaped fruit. Yellow when they're fully ripe. Sweet and strong scent.
Striped orange-red on pale green background. Juicy with aromatic flavour. A heavy cropper and disease resistant!
Damson
Unusually large damson both for dessert and culinary use. Reliable heavy crops of blue-black fruits, deliciously sweet.
Mulberry
A unique mulberry that fruits from an early age. Can be grown in a container. Protect from frost.
Cherry
Large, dark red, cooking cherry. Acid flavour. Very hardy and reliable cropper, excellent for jams & bottling.
Nectarine
A dwarf nectarine of very good quality. Sweet orange-red flesh and a freestone. Ideal for pot growing.
Large yellow fruit with scarlet stripes. Cooks to a juicy, mild puree. Makes a fruity eater later in the season.
Medlar
Small, semi-weeping, flat topped tree. Eat russet fruits when fully ripe. Large white flowers, large hairy leaves.
