A tree that has been grown in the field and then lifted out of the ground when dormant. Available from November to March. The roots are more open and the direct contact with the soil encourages them to settle in and establish more readily.
These are 2yr old trees that have been grown 1yr in the field and the second in a pot. Container trees can be planted at any time of the year but establish best when planted during the autumn and need to be watered well during the first summer.
Snake Bark Maple
Silver-reddish striated bark when young. As the plant ages, turns dark green and silver on the more mature stems.
A small upright-growing tree with very prominent, purple-green and white striped bark and bright orange leaf colours.
Freeman's Maple
A red and silver maple with bold, healthy leaves turning intense ruby red in the autumn. Good for public parks.
The Tatarian Maple
A very good form of ginnala with stunning orange and crimson autumn colours. Perfect for smaller gardens.
Upright habit. Attractive purple/red emerging leaves remain a deep purple-bronze-green in summer.
Strong striated, red tinged, green and white bark and good yellow-orange autumn foliage colour.
Wonderful marbled green/white stripy bark. Excellent autumn colours and conspicuous fruits borne on long racemes.
Maple
Delicate spreading tree. Leaves tinted a vibrant red when young, mid green in summer, turning red in autumn.
Deeply cut soft green leaves turning rich ruby-crimson in autumn. Produces clusters of reddish purple flowers.
Bigleaf Maple
Leaves emerge with burgundy tones in spring, then glossy medium-deep green and yellowish orange in autumn.
A shrubby tree with 3-lobed leaves that exhibit wonderful, rich red foliage colour in late summer.
Small-Leaved Maple
A large shrub or small tree. Beautifully tinted leaves in the growing season, turning red in autumn.
